Simplicity comes early, and leaves soon after.

We are complicated by the time we turn twelve and a half.

But seek out the Child and look in his Eyes—

that Simple Truth seems to leave our minds.

As we grow, we must reverse

the brilliant innocence time has perverse’d.

Simple Faith, we must realize,
lays itself in the Child's Eyes.
